Job Description:

What we are looking for:

    • Strong supervisory, organizational, communication, presentation, teaching, and collaboration
    • Strong interpersonal skills with an enthusiasm for literacy, learning, community building.  
    • Management of library staff and volunteers
    • An understanding of finances, budgeting, and strategic planning
    • Maintenance of statistical data, financial reporting, and grant applications 
    • Creation of monthly and annual reports for the Library Board
    • Ability to plan and facilitate programs and events for patrons of all ages
    • Proficiency with current technologies and able to assist patrons with a wide range of information resources and devices (print and electronic).
    • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office programs, web-based applications, and other services necessary for circulation, collection development, online communication, electronic ordering, and accounting. skills.
    • Effective and creative problem solving and trouble-shooting skills.  
    • Accountability to Library Board for the efficient operation of the library
    • A commitment to upholding the Canadian Federation of Library Associations position statements on Intellectual Freedom and on Diversity and Inclusion is essential. 
    • Formal training/experience in libraries or community programming preferred.   

Successful candidates will be required to:

  • Provide an RCMP Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Persons check.
  • Provide at least two work or volunteer references and one personal reference.

Janitorial Employment Opportunity

JANITORIAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

 

2.5 hours per week

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • The Contractor(s) must obtain a Criminal Check from RCMP and provide copies to the Library Manager
  • Contractor may provide a list of individuals that will be preforming the janitorial duties and they (up to 4) will record their presence on the time sheet provided at the Library. Any changes to the list of authorized individuals will be reported to the Library Manager.
  • There shall be no more than four (4) authorized people in the library during the performance of the janitorial duties.
  • One key to the Library will be entrusted to the Contractor to access the Library only during the time the contractor is performing their duties.
  • The Contractor shall be responsible for any loss of or damage to any property of the Library arising out of the performance of the work and shall make good any such damage or loss.
  • To this end, the Contractor is required to hold at least $1,000,000 liability insurance that covers all the persons during the performance of the janitorial duties.
  • The Contractor will provide their own WCB insurance.

 

DUTIES:

WEEKLY

  1. Vacuum all carpets, rugs and anti-fatigue mats.
  2. Wash all porcelain tiled floor with hot water only – cleaners will ruin finish.
  3. Wash bathroom floors with Mr. Clean.
  4. Clean all washrooms - sinks and toilets with disinfectant.
  5. Clean all computer screens with an eyeglass shammy and appropriate computer monitor wipes.
  6. Empty all garbage receptacles and take the garbage to the bin in the Fire Hall parking Lot.
  7. Change the bag in the sanitary garbage receptacle in the public washroom.
  8. Dust all furniture including desks, and shelving.
  9. Wipe down children’s table and chairs.
  10. Wash plastic chair mats with a cleaner [e.g.  Mr. Clean].
  11. Dust all window ledges.
  12. Clean Plexiglas countertops with glass cleaner.

AS NEEDED

  1. Wash anti-fatigue mats with hot water.
  2. Wash all garbage receptacles receiving wet garbage.
  3. Spot clean all walls and glass entrance doors – use special glass spray only as the inside storm windows are made of a Plexiglas compound that will cloud over if regular cleaners are used.
  4. Wipe down and/or vacuum chairs (black board chairs, wingbacks, computer chairs, stacking chairs.)
  5. Wipe down or dust doorframes.
  6. Disinfect plastic sink.
